Distance Instruction

Distance Instruction
Posted on 04/02/2020

Dear SHS and WRMS Families,

Schools across the state recently received word that we are moving from “remote opportunities to learn” to “distance instruction and assessment.” As we receive more specific directions from the state level, this process may evolve and change. As we learn about updated expectations for schools we will keep you informed.

  • Google Classroom is the platform most teachers are using to push assignments and lesson material to students.  Your student’s teachers have Google Classroom sites set up to offer learning opportunities. By completing these assignments, your student should be able to solidify learning that has already happened and add new knowledge to that base.

    • Some of these assignments may be “graded,” but will not be counted toward a grade in Skyward. On other assignments, your student may receive feedback from the teacher, but will not receive a grade.  If your student needs more direction, they can email the teacher via their school email or through the Google Classroom site.

    • The classroom codes for each teacher’s Google Classroom have been emailed to the email addresses on file in Skyward or mailed if traditional mail has been requested. If they have not already, please have your student join their teachers’ classrooms.  Students should only join the classes currently on their schedule.

  • Families that do not have internet access will receive materials via traditional mail. As with Google Classroom assignments, your student should be able to solidify learning that has already happened and add new knowledge to that base. Students may email or mail their work to their teachers and will receive feedback when the next round of assignments is sent out.

April 6-10 is spring break.  Materials for learning will not be mailed during spring break, and teachers may not be available to check and respond to email.  Students are welcome to continue working on anything mailed home or posted on Google Classroom, but will not be required to do so during the break.

Please let your student’s ADVO/PRIDE teacher know if you have questions.

Sincerely,

Stevenson High School and Wind River Middle School Staff
