Global Education. Local Ambition.

Shaping future leaders through global exploration.

The Washington World Fellowship is a 2.5-year global leadership program that seeks to cultivate global leadership and future success in young Washingtonians by providing access to unique academic, travel, and leadership opportunities.

The Washington World Fellows Program is open to high school sophomores and is administered at no cost to students and their families.

Almost every Washington World Fellow plans to be the first in their family to attend college.

Two Fellowships, one incredible leadership curriculum:

Washington World Fellows International Ambassadors

WWF International Ambassadors is a global leadership program that focuses on developing leadership skills through global travel.

During the summer between their junior and senior year, fellows will take part in a college-level study abroad experience in Spain, where they will study the Spanish history and language and immerse themselves in Spanish culture by living with local homestay families.

During the course of the program, fellows will participate in a variety of activities, which will include academic and college preparation mentoring and college application assistance. The fellows will also have access to leadership opportunities, which may include civic engagement activities, internship/externship experiences, and international student forums.

To be eligible for the WWF International Ambassadors program, a student must:

  • be a U.S. citizen or a permanent legal resident of the United States;

  • be a Washington state resident;

  • be a 10th grade student;

  • be nominated by a teacher, counselor, and/or mentor; and

  • be on track to have completed at least 1 year of Spanish language courses or have equivalent conversational proficiency levels by the end of this school year.

Washington World Fellows Domestic Advocates

WWF Domestic Advocates is a leadership and future preparation program that focuses on developing leadership skills through cross-cultural connection and state-wide advocacy.

During the summer between their sophomore and junior years, fellows will take part in our Domestic Program in Eastern Washington. This immersive experience includes the study of the Spanish history and language, cultural integration through living with Spanish peers, and engaging in a variety of activities related to academic and college preparation and cross-cultural exchange.

Between their junior and senior years, fellows will engage in a local advocacy project and take part in our College Bootcamp. This Bootcamp offers crucial elements such as college application assistance, insightful college tours, and preparation for financial aid consideration. The fellows will also have access to leadership opportunities, which may include civic engagement activities, internship/externship experiences, and international student forums.

To be eligible for the WWF Domestic Advocates program, a student must:
